I hope you all have been okay and busy. Last weekend me and my girls drove to San Diego for July 4th weekend... :-D We had been planning the trip for a couple months and decided that July 4th weekend would be the perfect weekend since, we all had Monday 5th off and the 2nd was my girls birthday! So Thursday (July 1st) we rented a car and drove to Diego!
The drive from Arizona to Diego was approximately 6-7hrs. We arrived at our beautiful Hilton hotel around 7pm. We stayed at the Hilton Bay front in the Gaslamp Quarter.
Here is the gorgeous view from our room on the 15th floor.
It was literally at a Bay Front. I loved the view.
Every night we would sit at the window ledge and watch fireworks.
Yes, there were fireworks every night we stayed.
Alternate view from another one of our windows.
San Diego was freaking cold. It had an average of 65 degrees throughout the whole weekend. Also, the fact that we stayed so close to the bay, we were even colder. Well we knew it was going to be a little chilly but we did not think it was going to be anywhere as cold as it was. Leaving hot ass 110 degrees Arizona for 65 degrees San Diego, was a shock. In the end we really didn't care, we were in a new state for 5 days and we were going to enjoy it. FUCK THE COLD!
So Friday (July 2nd), was my friends bday and she really really wanted to go to Sea World. Deep down I didn't really care to go but hey it was her birthday so whatever right?
We got there and after circling the parking lot 3 times we finally found a spot. So we head to the ticket counter to buy our tickets and its about $69 per person. Okay, so because I didn't want to be there I started whining things like:
"Wow, $69 are you kidding me? Thats a lot of freaking money to see some fish."
"Are you sure you want to go girl, I mean we could do something else right?"
"Hey, don't you have to save some money for the club tonight?"
"Are you sure you want to go girl, I mean we could do something else right?"
"Hey, don't you have to save some money for the club tonight?"
All my lame attempts DID NOT work. Her mind was set on going to Sea World, she had never been there before and really wanted to experience it. I also had never been to Sea World but in my mind I had already prejudged it. To me it was just a bunch of fish in a tank.
So because it was her birthday they gave us a discount on our tickets so we only had to pay $50. I reluctantly paid and went in. When we got there there were so much things going we didn't know where to start. So we decided to do what we do best......EAT!
We stood in this long ass line outside Mama Stella's Pizza Kitchen. They served pasta and pizza and boy did it look good. I was starving and couldn't wait to devour my food.
What a contradiction?
As delicious as the food looked, it tasted HORRIBLE.
To our disappointment, the food had no taste. We added salt, ketchup, hot sauce and it still didn't help a bit. I really regretted coming to Sea World now! I had already foresaw a horrible day until I saw this....
Sea Lions begging for food!!!!! They were so cute and greedy. They yelled at anyone they saw throwing fish.
It was so funny.
This kind of lightened my mood a bit. But what really made me do a complete 180 was watching the "Blue Horizons" Show...
OH MY GOODNESS
This show is sooooo good. It is a theatrical show that involves animal trainers, dolphins, birds, acrobats and pilot whales. I wish I had pictures to show but we were in the soak zone (seats that are highly expected to get wet, depending on how big the splashes are from the dolphins) and were advised to put away all electronics.
Apparently this show is new to San Diego Sea World, but man am I glad I went after it was debuted.
I was so impressed with the fascinating and astounding performances. These dolphins were so well-behaved. They did everything on cue. Their dives were well perfected, the birds flew at exactly the right moment. It was emotionally overwhelming and I loved every bit of it. Even the music was EPIC! lol
Here is a video I found on Youtube that summarizes the show PERFECTLY.
This is the same show I saw and this is the dramatic music the played. I've also added a little summary about the show below the video. Enjoy!
"The 25 minute show follows the story of a young girl named Marina who yearns to explore the secrets of the sky and sea beyond her window. Marina's imagination comes to life as she dives through her window into a "blue" worlds of adventure and wonder where dolphins will dance, free-flying tropical birds will fill the sky with color, and the spirits will soar." - SeaWorld Blue Horizons San Diego
After this show the day only got better and better. We watched "Sea Lions Live" a comedy show w/ sea lions of course and their trainers. It was hilarious. I enjoyed it alot. We watched the great Shamu, you can't come to Sea World and not watch the legendary Shamu right?
To summarize the day's events, we all had a magnificent time. I for one had to eat my words and throw away all the prejudgments I had of Sea World. If you have not been there, please go. It is fun for everyone, no matter the age! It is highly recommended. I cannot wait to go back.
Because of Sea World my number one pet is a dolphin. Oh how I wish I could own a dolphin!
Good luck w/ owning a dolphin in hot ass Arizona....UNREALISTIC GOAL
A girl could dream right?
Here is some more pictures of our incredible day at Sea World.
(I will be posting more pics as soon as I steal them off my friends camera, lol)
A pic of Shamu's stadium before the show began. We were also in the soak zone here but luckily not an inch of water got on us. Thank God! Others were not so lucky, HAHA!!!!
GREAT PHOTO!!!
FREAKING HUGE! I must admit though...I envy that trainer *sigh*
Another great shot of the whale diving.
SO CUTE! I KNOW HE CUD SWALLOW ME WHOLE BUT..STILL....
I CANT RESIST HIS CUTENESS!!!
At the end of the day, I felt like becoming an animal activist. I am really determined to know how they train these animals to do the amazing things they do, just by a hand signal. How are they disciplined? (Can I try their techniques on humans? LOL j/k) I am praying they are not hurt in the process for I will be pissed and WILL cause some HAVOC!!
For the remaining of our trip we just hit up some malls, and hit the beach. July 4th was the COLDEST DAY of all the days we spent in Diego. We were set on going to Mission Bay Beach. We were all so cute in our bathing suits and then we got outside... -_-
It was soo cold. Pores all risen, nipples erect, eyes all watery, it was 64 degrees! Everyone around us were all in hoodies. But being the divas we are we said:
"Who the hell cares, FUCK THE COLD"
So we drive to Mission Bay and it is PACKED w/ people. There was so much traffic, no parking spots. It was just utter chaos. We couldn't find any place to park at all, so we ended up just going to Olive Garden and going back to the hotel :-( Later we went to a club. Sad to say we went to a club every night we were in Diego....EVERY NIGHT!! I have never in my life clubbed so much.
The following day Mon 5th we checked out of our beautiful hotel and before we headed back to AZ we stopped by Mission Bay Beach. Just as we expected the July 4th hype was over, so the beach was not as packed as the day prior.
*Bliss*
I was this happy
So we found a place to park and walked around. The weather was chilly, but at least there was some sun out and after experiencing the weather on the 4th, we were really content w/ our 72 degrees. We ate at this little burrito shop near the beach. I think its called Roberto's. Best Burrito Ever!
After the beach we endured our long drive back to hot ass AZ.
I can't really complain about AZ anymore. I loved my stay in San Diego and will do it again, but I really appreciate AZ more. San Diego roads were so confusing. It was so easy to get lost. The freeway ramps seem to be hidden as if it was a secret tunnel that noone should find. There were so many one way streets you had to be careful you were going in the correct flow of traffic. Streets signs were so small you could barely see at night. Freeways lead to other freeways. Crazy sharp turns when exiting off the freeway. Not many gas stations and when we did find one it was at a high price, but we expected that much. All the above gave us a headache.
Arizona is much cleaner and has nice big bright illuminated street signs so you can clearly see at night. Roads run North/South or East/West. Easy accessible ramps that lead onto freeways w/ distinctive signs for direction. Gas stations on almost every corner. Arizona really is a nice place to live. If only we didn't have 110 degree whether, we would be perfect lol.
Good ole Arizona!
Present Day
Back to reality, back to bills, back to work, back to everyday routine.
Because I've been away, I haven't seen any anime or dramas, missed a bunch of eps from my soaps.
Since I've been back I feel like I've been playing "catch up". Catch up on bills, catch up on soaps, catch up on anime and cant forget catch up on work. So exhausting. The same weekend I was in San diego, was when they were hosting the Anime Expo in LA! I wanted to go so bad, but my friends are not into anime or anything closely related to it like I am...they call it...Big Eyed CARTOONS.. Man I hate that term saying it by the proper term "anime" sounds better and even shorter.
So how did you all spend your July 4th weekend? Tell me what you did in comments, I'm hoping anime conventions !_!
Hope I didn't bore you too much. Will update blog soon.
